HOW TO GET STARTED
INITIAL EXAM AND CONSULTATION
The initial exam and consultation lasts approximately 30 minutes. Dr. Ma will listen to your concerns, and conduct a clinical exam after a brief review of your dental and medical history. She will discuss with you whether orthodontic treatment is recommended, and when is the best time to start.
If orthodontic treatment is indicated, Dr. Ma will start with complete diagnostic records. This includes intra and extra oral photographs, digital x-rays and mounted models on an articulator (an artificial jaw simulator). This appointment normally lasts about one hour.
TREATMENT PLAN CONFERENCE
After the diagnostic records are obtained, Dr. Ma will study the case carefully to make a complete diagnosis and, based on that, a treatment plan.
During the treatment conference, Dr. Ma will discuss with you the findings, talk about the treatment plan and options, and answer your questions. Our treatment coordinator will help you with your insurance benefit and discuss payment options with you. This appointment may take 30 to 45 minutes.
Treatment plans vary so there can be many different first steps. Typically, the treatment starts with placing full braces. This appointment normally lasts about two hours.
